Scam Of The Week – $10.8m from Barclays..

Yes, I know these mails go out to all and sundry, but I can’t help being amused that me, of all people still get them. You’d think that whoever sends them would be a little more targeted.

Still, when one makes it through my spam filter, I can’t help but be intrigued.. So, here’s a good one courtesy of Barclays Bank, who still use Yahoo as an email address provider it seems…

We at this bank wish to congratulate and inform you that after thorough Review of your Inheritance/Contract funds transfer release documents in Conjunction with the Central Bank and the International Monetary Fund Assessment report, your payment file was forwarded to us for immediate Transfer of a part-payment US$10,800,000.00 to your designated bank account From their offshore account with us.

The Audit reports given to us shows that you have been going through hard Times by paying a lot of money to see to the release of your funds, which Has been delayed by some dubious officials.

    I just got one.

    Mine was genuine whereas it’s obvious that yours is a fraud. I say this because because they had reduced the amount to 2.8 million and removed the G email accounts and in fact the header says from Barclays, its obviously not been spoofed or anything because there’s just no way someone would do that.

    In fact it is so obviously genuine now, that of course I sent them everything they ask for and wait eagerly for their demand for hundreds to thousands which of course I will gladly pay before receiving my millions, or was that billions. Whatever they write I believe it.
